Always wondered what it is like to be a beekeeper? Join us on our taster day!
A typical Taster Day
10.00 - Introduction and outline of the day.
10.15 - Bee Theory
11.00 - Coffee Break
11.30 - Practical session
Looking at beekeeping equipment (smoker, hive tools etc)
Manipulation of frames and frame making
Roll your own beeswax candle
Extract and jar honey - take a 4oz jar home with you
13.00 – Lunch
14.00 - Drive to Apiary, suit up and opening up the Hives (weather dependant)
16:00 - Closing the day - discussions & questions
By the end of the day attendees will;
-
appreciate the ecology of the honeybee colony

learn how to identify worker, drone and queen bees
-
experienced getting close to working bees
-
have handled the products of a beehive (honey, wax, propolis)
-
have handled a range of equipment used in beekeeping
All children (under 18) must be accompanied by an adult, suitable for children over 10 years old.
To ensure all attendees get the best experience from their training we only run our courses in small groups.
We therefore must operate with a strict cancellation policy: Refunds (or booking transfers) are not given for cancellations made within 2 weeks of the course. If a cancellation is made with more than 2 weeks notice but within 6 weeks of the course date, then we will try to re-sell your tickets, if we are successful then a refund will be issued for the full amount less a £10 administration fee. If a cancellation is made with more than 6 weeks notice, then a full refund will be issued.
